Warning: Kotex Tampons for Recall for Contamination!
Make sure you read before you purchase that tampon: Kotex has recently recalled about 1,400 of their tampons for bacterial contamination!
The FDA recalled the tampons because they were contaminated with Enterobacter sakazakii-- known to cause vaginal infections, UTI, pelvic inflammatory diseases, and other health risks. Because of this, 1,400 cases of tampons distributed to Arizona, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas and Utah were recalled.
"Any consumer who used [the product] and experienced unusual discharge, rash, fever, headache, vomiting or abdominal pain" is asked to contact the doctor ASAP. Consumers are also advised to call Kimberly-Clark's consumer services department.
Have you used these products before? What do you do when you hear about products you use being recalled?

i'm glad that i don't use tampons! i do use Kotex but only their panty liners + pads .
I use em' but I'm not from those states.
Don't normally use them but I did buy some...good thing I don't live in one of those states
don't use kotex tampons - I'm in the clear! :)
I saw the "New" and freaked out, but luckily New Mexico is a long way from New Hampshire.
I use them but I'm from Illinois. thank goodness!
It isn't the kinda in the picture, it's a new line they had, a natural kind or something like that.
I freaked out cuz they're my favorite and I just bought some...and then I realized that it's no where NEAR the east coast. Win.
It's limited to natural balance regular absorbency tampons. The photo is misleading.
omg thats so fuckin scary. im using one right now, lol.
@Saridactyl@xanga - Oh great. Those are the ones that I just bought. Thanks for pointing out the truth.
I don't care if I'm not from those states, I'm not risking it.
well it's a good thing i stopped using them. something about this U tampon product gave me an allergic reaction of hives. i didn't connect it until 3 periods later. (and this was months ago when i noticed)
I don't have periods anymore, but I used tampax when I did.
I use them but i'm in Australia
I use Tampax. Don't think Kotex one is available here. Thanks for the information anyway.
@Saridactyl@xanga - Thank you for clearing that up, I was freaking out. lol.
I find this particularly interesting when I live in Iowa, use those, and was hospitalized for a week because of TSS last August. When have they messed up before is what's on my mind....
@BrandiLynn6@xanga - TSS happens, it doesn't matter if bacteria is present. Some people are more likely get TSS than others.
@I_am_his_little_angel@xanga - I kind of wish healthkicker would actually edit things before they post them. It's misleading and could cause panic...
no, don't use tampons
I'm back and forth between Florida and Colorado, definitely makes me nervous though :(
This is why I wear pads.
I don't think your picture is accurate.
so i guess my fear of these things is even less irrational now!
thank god im on the east coast haha
