  • Quote of the Day! ...from Celeb Amy Adams

    Hi HK'ers!

It's that time of day again...

"Being pregnant finally helped me understand what my true relationship was with my body - meaning that it wasn't put on this earth to look good in a swimsuit."
    - Amy Adams in Parade Magazine

What do you think about the movie star's post-pregnancy lesson? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

It's retarded. Just another plancenta-brained breeder who doesn't realize that having kids is not an obligation.
I'd much rather look good in the swimsuit.

I think she's right. Hopefully most people don't believe their bodies were just made to look good in swimsuits.

I love Amy Adams! She was great in "Enchanted"

  • xhalesx@revelife

@Murphy_Rants@xanga - I know. He's a jerk. Don't even try to engage in conversation with him.

And she's right. I love Amy Adams!

I agree. Your relationship with your body should be a healthy one for the sake of what it's capable of on its own.. or in this case, with another.

  • Xbeautifully_broken_downX@xanga

@StatelessPilot@revelife - Oh definitely. Our bodies are built for WAY more practical things rather than carrying on the species; that shit is so overrated. Also, I'm still waiting on the fat people apocalypse.

  • StatelessPilot@revelife

@Xbeautifully_broken_downX@xanga - Who even gives a shit about that? I know I don't. The human race going extinct would NOT be an inherently bad thing. That's just the natural progression of life on earth. Species evolve, they thrive, and then they go extinct. Even if we don't go extinct naturally there will eventually be some sort of natural disaster that wipes the human race off the face of the planet anyway (or we will destroy ourselves by our own stupidity).

Yeah, I don't care if I was the last man on earth. I wouldn't impregnate any of the remaining women. The human race would just go extinct because I don't want to have to deal with being a parent (children are so gross and annoying and expensive).

@StatelessPilot@revelife - Are you perhaps that pilot that got caught badmouthing all the gays & grannies on his flight? If not, you should make friends with him. You both have the same disturbed, closed-minded itty bitty brains.

  • StatelessPilot@revelife

@Just_Another__Disaster@xanga - No, I am not Capt. James Fritzen Taylor of Southwest Airlines (I wouldn't fly for Southwest even if you paid me a 7-figure salary, I hate that airline with every fiber of my being).

Disturbed? Nah, I'm not disturbed, I'm modern and enlightened.

@Just_Another__Disaster@xanga - That's what the lower-evolved individuals say until they eventually catch up, and then they find out the higher-evolved are in fact right.

  • Just_Another__Disaster@xanga

@StatelessPilot@revelife - Lol. Ok, buddy, sure. You're definitely "higher eveolved". Because the definition of higher evolved is wanting to see the end to your own species. You're so smart.

  • Xbeautifully_broken_downX@xanga

@StatelessPilot@revelife - I totally agree! YAY! Apocolypse!! I, for one, am, like totally, looking forward to it! Living is totally overrated. What with it's breathing and stupid shit like that.

  • StatelessPilot@revelife

@Just_Another__Disaster@xanga - I never said I necessarily wanted it to happen, I just said it's not an inherently bad thing. There's a difference. Human extinction would be neither good nor bad. It would just be.

  • Just_Another__Disaster@xanga
  • T0m03@xanga

That's cute and all but... I wasn't put on this earth simply to breed...

  • NaitoOfNarnia@xanga

@StatelessPilot@revelife - Amy Adams said she felt obligated to have kids? Gee, I completely missed that context in her quote. Perhaps she realized just how important good health is to have when you are pregnant because she actually values her life and her child's. So sad that you don't seem to share the same sentiments. That poor child certainly didn't do anything to deserve your cold-hearted view against him/her.

Now, I've been away from Xanga for a while...I have no idea about any changes of heart you may have had in the last year, but if you still call yourself a Christian, you're doing the rest of us a terrible disservice with your critical comments and rants against those of us who actually consider LIFE a GOOD thing from GOD, and that children ARE a blessing. If you want to be single and childless, fine. That's your prerogative. But Ms Adams (be she a Christian or not, herself) apparently values a healthy life and that there's more to health than anyone's lustful thoughts of her in a bikini.

    If

you're still of the mind that you're living a life for God...get a reality check. If I weren't a Christian, myself, you'd make me think Christians were just judgmental and overly-critical morons. You are out of line, sir, and you need to fix it NOW.

  • StatelessPilot@revelife

@NaitoOfNarnia@xanga - That's childFREE, not childLESS. There is a very, very big difference. "Childless" implies that my life is somehow less because I don't have/want children. No, it's not. I'm childfree: I have a life free of children. I'd much rather spend the quarter of a million dollars it takes to raise a kid for 18 years on a nice car or a private airplane, and I'd much rather spend my time on my career or keeping my body looking its best (yes, I'm a bit vain for a guy) than raising a damn kid.

Also, childfree does NOT imply single either. There are married couples who never have children (both by choice and not by choice). Should I get married, this is the type of marriage I will have since I've already had surgery to enforce my childfree decision (and by extension, I refuse to date anyone who wants kids or has the remotest inkling that they might later on).

Lastly, that's how I read that quote. To me, she's saying she was put on the earth solely for the purpose of reproduction. Really? There are other (better, I might add) things you could do with your life.
  • NaitoOfNarnia@xanga

    @StatelessPilot@revelife - Child

    free

    ...child

    less

...either way, your view on children is sick. If you don't want to be a parent, okay, fine. Like I said, that's your choice. Perhaps God, Himself, made you to be without children from the get-go. Yet you pass judgmental comments on those who would see the joy of parenthood despite its inherent not-so-nice parts.
Tell me, do you think that your airline would be problem free? Would you get less enjoyment from running your own company if there are struggles to be had? Would you decline the chance to have your own airline because of those struggles? Or would you pursue it because you find there is

    greater

joy to be had in running your own company despite the trials you will face? If you choose the latter, then you ought to respect that parents choose to be parents because of the same reasoning. They find that watching a helpless new life grow into their own person, seeing the beauty and wonders that God weaved into His creation. Yet you would CRITICIZE them for that desire???

WHO ARE YOU TO MAKE SUCH JUDGMENTS AGAINST THEM?! You egotistical hypocrite!!! You aren't just a little vain, you are extremely self-centered!!!

As for how you took Ms Adam's comment, you read into it. For one who seems to think so logically - "child

    free

    " versus "child

    less

" and childfree not implying singleness (I agree, my apologies for any misunderstanding) - you staggeringly failed to recognize the simplicity of her comment. Lest you can find additional quotes by her stating otherwise, she simply realizes there's

    more

to life than a healthy body in a swimsuit. It was your own pathetic view on life that assumed she was concluding anything else. And yes, it's pathetic. Because your attitude is anything BUT Godly. I

    have

read many of your past comments and find your attitude very counter-Christian. It needs to stop. One a web site that lacks skills in discerning a struggling Christian who makes mistakes and those who just claim to be Christian, you are not helping anything. Thus my harsh words with you. ...perhaps...

    perhaps

...you'll take a moment to consider them.

As for better things to do with one's life, I say the value of human life trumps any temporary and pointless venture like a sports car (not that having such a thing is bad, it just doesn't matter in the end). If you claim Christ, your values are askew. I don't care if you can admit it. It's whether or not you do something about it that will matter.

  • wing_stock@xanga

@NaitoOfNarnia@xanga - Just a passerby reading this thread of comments. I am not taking side, but just pointing out that you are technically being judgemental and "ungodly" by calling him a vain, self-centered, egotistical hypocrite. Haha.

You don't have to agree with his opinions, but he has the right to say them. By deeming his views "pathetic", you prove your self just as hypocritical and pathetic and yes, un-Christian.

  • NaitoOfNarnia@xanga

@wing_stock@xanga - I understand your point, and while I won't say it's not conceivable that you're right, I would have to disagree.
For one, he is being egotistical and self-centered. None of his comments convey a respectful thought towards Amy Adams, children, himself (ironically), or even God! Who, coincidentally, happened to create the entire life-through-birth process which he so deeply criticizes (per his comments that it wouldn't be a bad thing if humans just died out). And given past claims of his that he is a Christian, yet shows no Christian character through his comments, it warrants rebuke.

And that is precisely my focus: rebuking him per his attitude. I am not, in any way, condemning him. (Many people seriously fail to understand the difference between judging an action/attitude/etc and judging the person, as in terms of passing sentence.)

He has a right to his opinions, yes. I won't stop him from saying them. But the foundation upon which he bases his opinions as valid is faulty. And, the Bible also calls upon fellow Christians to confront another believer when one is acting in an un-Christlike way. So, no, there was nothing hypocritical or pathetic about my rebuke. In fact, if I was acting as badly, I would expect someone who cared to respond in the same way. (My girlfriend and my mom and my pastor have, in a few instances, done exactly that, and I responded with immediate humility. Point of fact.)

  • Lost_In_Reverie@xanga

@T0m03@xanga - See, I didn't take it that way, but I can understand how it could be interpreted that way. I just took it as a general "Looking good in a bikini is not the end-all, be-all of life, and it took something really huge, like a pregnant belly, to help me realize that"

  • clumsyandunaware@xanga

@StatelessPilot@revelife - LOL, too bad you'll never experience either of those two things.

    • About Me: While I tried to stay in college for as long as I possibly could, I picked up a Psychology minor, forcing myself to learn a little about mental health. What I didn't know was how closely linked mental and physical health, are to each other. Now that I've graduated, I've enjoyed writing about all different aspects of health for Healthkicker. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that there's no way to live healthy unless you're happy, too. I'm hoping to be able to give as much insight as I can, while picking up a few tips from everyone along the way!
If there was one drink I could not live with, it'd be WATER. While I do thrive off of energy drinks, I drink about 15 glasses of water a day. As far as my favorite foods go, I'll eat anything with cheese, chicken, and asparagus. Also, ANY kind of fruit!
