I know this isn't brand new news, but because today was the first time I visited a Chipotle since they added the brown rice option (the one right by my place STILL doesn't have brown rice), I thought I'd write a quick post.
Chipotle, long a staple for a decent veggie/vegan burrito, bowl, salad or tacos when there aren't any better options, has stepped up their health game by adding a brown rice option. The brown version is the same cilantro lime style as their white, only ten times better.
I know some people who have abandoned white rice for health reasons, claiming they still enjoy white's taste over brown's. This isn't true in my case. I have come to really, really enjoy the taste of brown rice. Quite frankly, white rice just tastes like bland mush to me now. The brown rice added a ton of flavor to my veggie burrito and I'm so glad Chipotle finally caught up to chains like Wahoo's and Sharky's.
While I usually opt for a salad at Chipotle, which doesn't contain rice, when I'm starving I'll go for one of their massive human-baby-sized burritos. Mine includes:
- Black beans
- Brown rice
- Fajita veggies
- Pico De Gallo
- Corn salsa
- Hot salsa
Along with the addition of brown rice, most Chipotle locations are boasting of using organic cilantro. Now if they could only bring back the Gardein or at least add a tofu option, they would be a serious vegan burrito destination. Either way, the simple brown rice addition will have me eating at Chipotle at times other than just on roads trips now.
Have you ever been to a Chipotle? What's your favorite dish? Do you prefer brown rice or traditional white?
