Facts for the Girl Scout Cookie-a-holics Out There
I was a Girl Scout growing up; my sister was too, and even went on to work for the organization for several years. We're big fans of the GS fundamentals, the lessons they teach young girls, and all of the charitable work that they do.
We're also *big* fans of Girl Scout cookies.
Thin Mints, Samoas, Do-Si-Dos, Tagalongs... You name it, we've eaten it. I've come up with interesting ways to eat them (crushed and as a sundae topping, for example), and have even given these treats as gifts.
But what exactly are you eating when you donate those $4 to the Girl Scouts community?
Huffington Post wanted to know too - and they found out.

You forgot to mention trans fats =( I know they're in there, I've read the box. i couldn't quote you but I personally think trans fats are worse than calories.
Regardless of the nutrition facts, I'll still be buying some this year. I'm just disappointed they got rid of my favorite: All Abouts.
Oh you just look at a samoa and know that it's laced with delicious calories, but that doesn't keep me away AT ALL
Also, anyone try the dulce de leche?
I remember when they were $3 =(
They are $3 where I live, and for my birthday I treated myself to six boxes of Thin Mints, which will last me all year. I can't wait to have those back in my freezer.
I'm on a diet and have 6 boxes of Samoas in my room. As long as you don't eat the whole box in a day, but stick to the portion sizes, it won't kill you. It's the one treat I look forward to :)
M
THERE ARE CALORIES IN GIRL SCOUT COOKIES???!/!/!!!11?
Life's too short to always worry about calories.. Girl Scout cookies sales come once a year. I'll work the Thin Mints off another time
They look good, but I'm not from the U.S so the questions are of no relation to me, thankfully. But to think about the U.S 's desire to find an answer to child-obesity, this organization must step-up and be true to its 'values'.
I'm obsessed with Trefoils, but I only recently started eating Thin Mints. I used to like those cookies with the peanut butter in the middle (are THOSE do-si-dos?). I also liked different flavors that have since been discontinued. Why is it that the cookies in the blue box always change??
@SpiritFanNumber1@xanga - LOL!!!! You rock!!!
Who cares? They're delicious. Calories literally mean nothing to me, and people who are concerned with calories are assholes. I've lived 22 years of my life eating what I want and I'm thin and happy. Everyone should stop worrying.
Worth it.
So what are the numbers on 8 boxes of thin mints? Since that's how many I will eat in one day once my order comes. (I also only payed 3.50)
Yuppp tagalongs are sooo worth it. I get about 8 boxes each time lol
Yea I figured as much...but they are sooo good. Fortunately, you don't really get them very often. So it's not that big of a deal. Unless you are someone who gives into sweets more often than not. Then you're in trouble
I think you forgot to mention the crack they lace those things with. There's a reason I can't stop eating the thin mints when I have a box in my hands....
Thin mints + mint chocolate chip ice cream. Sounds wonderful right about now...
I have put my requests in at the GS website, I've kept my eye open for ANY girl scouts and at least $4 in my wallet for almost a year and I STILL CAN"T GET MY HANDS ON THESE FREAKING COOKIES. Why are they so hard to find?
Imagine that, something with *gasp* calories, fat, and sugar. Seriously, if people would just learn what the words "moderation" and "portion control" means and exercise even just a little bit, they wouldn't have to be concerned too much with what they eat. Plus, Girl Scout cookies only come around once a year so it's probably not going to hurt you to have a box or two.
They're sooooo worth only eating once a year, when the GS's around here actually sell them! I'm in-love with Thin Mints and order probably 4 boxes to last a while...and I only eat them frozen :)
I will be buying them simply because the girl scouts support the LGBTQ community by not discriminating.
I haven't actually had a girl scout cookie in years.
Samoas and Thin Mints rule!
