Acne-Fighting Strawberry Milkshake Mask
I don't know about you, but whether it be department store, drug store, or a a specialty "botanical type" store, acne products are a little too harsh. High concentrations of salicylic acid or too much alcohol, tee tree oil etc sometimes have a negative effect on that which we are trying to treat or prevent.
I've been down the roads of breaking out even more, drying out my skin and killing my skin with some of these products. So what I do to prevent acne and maintain perfect skin is drink tons of strawberry milkshakes all day long!!
Kidding about the perfect skin and the milkshakes... though it would be a really nice theory.
Seriously though, doing a lot of research and a few trials and errors, I came up with a super tasty (hehe) and effective mask/scrub, which has mild amounts of natural salicylic acid.
Ingredients for Strawberry Milkshake Mask:
- 1 Strawberry: Contains mild amounts of natural salicylic acid which fights acne. Seeds exfoliate and eliminate dead skin cells.
- 2 tbs Cow's milk: Lactic Acid in milk heals acne wounds (you know, the wounds we get from poking and prodding those things to death). It also shrinks pores, moisturizes skin & eliminates redness.
- 1 tbs Raw Sugar: Raw sugar exfoliates, reduces swelling, forces melanin out of the skin which evens out skin tone and pigmentation.
- 1/2 tbs of Honey: Contain antibacterial properties that can prevent acne. Antioxidants to fight free radicals, and softens skin.
If you are allergic to eating any of these ingredients, please DO NOT use on your skin!
All you do is blend the milk, strawberry and honey, and add raw sugar!
This mask is mild, safe and soothing. Do not make it in a large batch, because milk and strawberries are perishable. Use within 3 days of making mask!
This recipe would be great for a spa party or girls night in.
Would you try this mask recipe to help you fight acne? Have you ever tried something like this before?

Hmm I think I'm gonna try this! I have always wanted to try an acne fighting mask. Thanks for sharing! :)
thanks. guess can make some strawberry milkshake along as well =)
So you've used this mask? How often do you do it and is it really effective? :)
Hmm, I think I'll just drink it!
I just do a spot treatment at night (did you know that the fluoride in regular paste toothpaste works just as well as expensive skincare brands like proactiv? Lol) and an acne scrub in the shower. The key is to shower every day. I should probably moisturize more often, but even without it, my skin stays clear. It took me a long time to figure out what worked for me. None of those stupid programs worked for me, especially proactiv.
And your strawberry mask is intriguing, though I'm not sure how I feel about putting honey and sugar on my face. lol :]
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing! Totally natural and no doubt awesome :)
Awesome! If it doesn't work, at least it'd be a tasty failure.
hi. what about that blemish balm cream or bb cream? have you tried that too? If yes, did it not work?
i think your recipe sounds good to drink too :)
An excellent resource of information I will certainly return to check on the latest posts
Thank you so much for sharing this! I will definitely try it. Trust me, I too have tried just about everything. If it helps the breakouts, it dries my skin out. If it doesn't dry my skin out, it makes my skin too oily. If it doesn't do that, it just makes the breakouts worse. And I haven't found ANYTHING that really minimizes the acne scars/marks.
I just spent a good chunk of money on an acne system, and the toner dries my skin out. I mean it dries it out to the point that the moisturizer doesn't even make it better.
Thanks again! :)
Any recipes, whether it be for your skin, body, or dinner I have used myself with results. I would never post information to BS people. I don't care if it sounds like the best idea in the whole wide world. If it isn't something I would feel comfortable using, I would NEVER recommend anyone else to use.
i always use honey and sugar + lemon or some sort of fruit with citric acid in it. they're amazing.
milk makes me break out.
@LeeKymKween@xanga - That's funny because LEMON makes ME break out :( I love sugar and honey for my skin though! :)
@sweet__madness@xanga - yes I know my skin flakes with acne products or for some acne prevention products my forehead has broken out in little bumps :(
This is definitely a topic thats close to me so Im happy that you wrote about it.
