Do you have that one (or ten) songs, that no matter what you are doing, you just want to get up and move along with it? The beat or lyrics make you happier and inspires you to dance around the house, run faster, lift more or pretend that you're more coordinated at Zumba moves than you actually are. Research shows that finding upbeat music that makes you happy improves your workouts and inspires you to do more. Here is my list of songs that do those things for me: 1. Balada Boa: I don't actually know if this song is played in the United States, but I heard this everywhere my past few months abroad in Europe. This song is in Portugese, and that's about all I know about it besides that it makes everyone who is listening to it get up and shimmy. 2. Daylight, by Matt and Kim: This is another song that seems to put a smile on everyone's face throughout the room. It gives a feeling of optimism and an appreciation for the day, something that is always encouraged mid-run. Matt and Kim encourage the "do it yourself" attitude.
3. Waka Waka, by Shakira: This song has been out for awhile also, but it still manages to get me up and moving. And anyone who has ever done Zumba or some type of dance workout would recognize that this song is perfect for it. It gets your whole body moving!
4. Gangnam Style, by PSY: I don't know if anyone actually understands this international hit, but I also don't know anyone who can resist dancing to this and attempt to mimic his moves. Definitely a workout must.
5. Titanium, by David Guetta ft. Sia: David Guetta's songs typically get me moving, but Titanium inspires a little more. It starts out slow and progressively gets faster, as do many workouts. There are many build ups within the song that just make you want to move. The lyrics also encourage you to be strong and to continue on.
6. Finally Found You, by Enrique Iglesias ft. Sammy Adams: This song has the steady beat that is ideal for most runs. Put this at the end of your play list, when you're finally done.
Do you like these songs? What songs inspire you to get up and move?
