Hope Solo is Nude on ESPN's Body Issue, and Noone Minds!
In the anticipated ESPN Body Issue, there will be many photos of Hope Solo, showing off her athletic and fit physique. Hope Solo is a current soccer star and a Dancing With the Starts contestant.Oh, and she will be nude.
However, Hope Solo distinguishes herself from other models on in sports magazines: this isn't about her "selling sex," it was about her selling a "healthy form of beauty, a real one that we can relate to."
Hope told ESPN during shooting:
I don't take it serious being a sex symbol at all. I'm an athlete, that's what I am.
I can't help but wonder if is she treated differently just because she has a different physique. If she were to have a model figure, and stripped down naked, would there be an uproar among the audience?
What do you think?

Honestly, I like her and I like muscles, but that picture doesn't turn me on at all. I've seen this ESPN issue and while other athletes look yummy, the pictures of Hope don't do her any justice at all.
@TequilaKisses@xanga - I don't think it's really supposed to turn you on. As she said, she's not selling sex. She's selling an idea of "healthy".
@MutineerCashier@xanga - Go back to the question to author posted. There's a reason why there's no uproar.
@TequilaKisses@xanga - Maybe I'm super tired. I don't quite get what you're trying to say.
If you're suggesting that there's no uproar because she's not the traditional concept of "beauty" or "woman" or even "sexy", I would tend to disagree. I know of plenty men who think women with her physique are very physically attractive.
I think perhaps there's no uproar because a) she's stated her intentions so they can not be speculated upon, and b) women generally don't believe men will find this attractive and so generally won't cause a stink due to the fact that they don't feel threatened by her being naked in a predominantly male-oriented magazine.
But what does it matter? People will get their panties in a bunch over anything these days, so I guess only time will tell when it comes to this.
@MutineerCashier@xanga - You're hopeless. It's sad that people can't just simply read a full article nowadays and be able to understand it for what it is. It's not the SAT's critical reading section!
This is what the author wrote "I can't help but wonder if is she treated differently just because she has a different physique. If she were to have a model figure, and stripped down naked, would there be an uproar among the audience?" And she also titled the post as "Hope Solo is Nude on ESPN's Body Issue, and Noone minds!"
And I had answered that I personally like Hope Solo and the idea of muscles, but I think the article just didn't do Hope's beauty justice as it does to other athletes in the same issue I've seen; hence, there's no uproar among the audience. Perhaps, if you actually read the the post and what I wrote, you wouldn't prone to cause drama because you and I have different opinions AND argue on total different points that aren't related to each other at all. Now, just simply walk away :)
She looks fierce and scary...in a good way.
There is no if. She is who she is as she says so why question the what ifs in regards to a different body? @_@
This is ESPN!!!! She is a soccer player!!!! She is fit and toned in every way. All there is to it. Now if you were to ask if she had a different face, would any one like her anymore, that be more legit. It's that face that wins our hearts! =D
I misread this as "Han Solo is Nude" and got all excited, but alas...I was mistaken.
Well... models strip down all the time. Is there uproar?
I get naked every day, and no one cares.
@WaitingToShrug@xanga - Maybe, but it's hard to hear them over the fapping.
@Grtt@xanga - Oh how I have missed our fun conversations on the ishies. :) I really should make more time for xanga.
The point they're making is kind of mute. There's a good deal of nudity in magazines so I'm not shocked by the fact that she's naked. I am shocked by how ripped she is. I used to play soccer and never looked like that. I guess I also never stood around in that pose either, though.
@Grtt@xanga - lol, I care when I get naked, that's about it. Things are going south.
I just looked up what fapping meant. Wish I hadn't...wish I hadn't.
@Whatsthat@momaroo - lol Sorrrry.
@WaitingToShrug@xanga - F'reals.
I'm pissed that they had regional covers and I got the cover with the guy from the Clippers.
