  • Getting Healthy After the Holidays!

Feeling guilty of your festive indulgences and want to shed off excesses from the generous portions of rich and sugary dinners, sweets and drinks you had? If you're feeling like how I'm feeling now, join me in getting healthy with the following diet and light exercises!

The general idea of the diet is not to starve yourself but to stick to your three meals a day and to refrain from fats or sweets, alcohol, fat dairy products and snacks. Try to keep a regular time for each meal and to eat lighter for dinner than for the other meals of the day. More Here...

  • How to Like Vegetables

I think my favorite food groups consist of the following: Turkey Hill Double Dunker ice cream, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies (although really, any sort of warm baked good is pretty high up there), and any type of potato chip ever created.  It follows that my favorite food even remotely close to a vegetable is the potato.  So what are some simple ways to get our recommended daily dose of nutrients via the dreaded vegetable? • Let's Talk about Weight Loss

Obviously, there are healthy ways and unhealthy ways to lose weight. Sometimes, the unhealthy ways seem more appealing, and sometimes, we do unhealthy healthy things in healthy weight loss plans to try to increase our weight loss.

  • Maintaining a Job Through Pregnancy

You are pregnant! Hooray! A sweet little bundle to hold near and dear will be here before you know it. Now is the time to take especially good care of your health; and if you have never had a good enough reason to watch your diet, you do now.

    Diet and indulgences

Nutrition is essential to a healthy pregnancy—and since you’re responsible for two people now, you’ll need to pay special attention to your diet. You won’t have to eat more food—but you should be eating as much nutritious food as you can. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains, taking care to eat foods high in fiber.  Go easy on the fats and sweets, and if you’re a coffee fan, go easy on the caffeine as well—according to the American Pregnancy Association, pregnant women can consume as much as 350 mg of caffeine a day.

  • Is Fashion Island the Most Vegan-Friendly Mall in America?

Photo courtesy of The Irvine Company

Note: This post is about food and food only.
Please save the comments saying veganism is a lifestyle and Neiman's sells furs, etc.
I agree but that's not the aim of this entry or this blog in general.

While we're not lucky enough in SoCal to have an all vegan mini-mall like they do in Portland, we do have some pretty quality vegan food choices at our local malls. I mean, even Brea has a Loving Hut in the food court now.

While I was sampling all sorts of vegan deliciousness at the Native Foods Fashion Island preview day last month, I realized that this upscale outdoor mall with an ocean view might be the nation's most vegan-friendly mall. While it doesn't have any vegan-specific clothing retailers, it does have giant versions of your standards like Urban and Forever 21, so you can still get your plaid and faux leather on. What I'm talking about here, however, is the FOOD.
