  • Hit or Miss: Hana Grill

During a grueling day of Christmas shopping at Fashion Island this past December, I was feeling pretty hungry. I could've headed to True Food Kitchen or Wahoo's, but I decided to check out the underground food court to see if there was anything new and vegan down there. What I found was pleasantly surprising. One item on the Hana Grill menu jumped out at me immediately: vegan chicken bowl. More Here...
  • Home-birth Advocate Dies During Childbirth

Caroline Lovell, an Australian home-birth advocate, died during childbirth at her home. She gave birth to her second child, a newborn baby girl who survived the experience. Lovell then unfortunately developed cardiac complications and died after being rushed to the hospital.

Personally I have no beef with home-births as long as a pregnant healthy woman has been given the OK by a doctor beforehand. Hospitals can be so stressful and the experience of being hooked up to a machine for fourteen hours and unable to walk or push on your own without the OB's OK is damned upsetting. More Here...

  • Veggie Chips!

I'm not a fan of vegetables (especially carrots) but it's good to eat them once in a while. I love chips and I love junk food. What better than Veggie Chips?

The first time I tried these, I bought them because I was curious about it. From the first bite, to the last crunch...I fell in love!! More Here...

  • It's Called Kickboxing Because it Kicks Your Butt!

Most people who are interested in fitness or weight loss know that a regular schedule of alternating cardio and Strength training is optimal. Cardio for the most part is my strong point but strength training... well... that needs work. I can end up spending 2 hours at the gym doing cardio but when it comes to the days when I'm supposed to be doing resistance training (RT), after 20 minutes I find myself getting restless. Some a few reps with the free weight here..a go at the row machine there, and I'm ready to throw in the towel! Honestly to me, RT can be a bit on the tedious/boring side.

However, I have found that if I can find new and inventive ways to get strength training in, it is way more enjoyable!

Here is where I'd like to introduce you to the wonderful world of kickboxing. More Here...

  • Postpartum: The Rollercoaster I Didn't Buy a Ticket To

I remember before I was pregnant hearing horror stories about postpartum. I always thought those woman were crazy, in all honesty. I didn't understand and really don't think you can unless you've had it. I had a friend whose husband would tell me about her hospital trips and he missed work often because she was "losing it."

After I had my daughter, I had some PP issues. I thought it was more of the fact that my daughter was just born after 12 weeks of wondering if my daughter would live and then dealing with her health issues after I had her. It was hard emotionally. I had two boys, a newborn with oxygen and at home nurses coming a few times a day. I was stressed beyond what I thought I could handle. More Here...

  • The New Face Of Binge Drinkers

If you think college students and young adults make up the vast majority of binge drinkers, think again! According to the Center of Disease Control (CDC), frat boys and party girls have nothing on the senior citizens.

A recent press release by the CDC reveals: "While binge drinking is more common among young adults ages 18–34, of those age 65 and older who report binge drinking, they do so more often – an average of five to six times a month."More Here...
